Climbers preparing together at an outdoor crag

About the centre

Built for thoughtful progression.

We combine welcoming instruction, purposeful route setting and consistent safety systems so climbers can learn, train and explore with confidence.

Our story

A local wall with an outdoor mindset

Athlorix Climbing began with a simple idea: indoor training should prepare people to make good decisions, not only finish harder routes.

Our coaches and setters design sessions around movement quality, partner communication and gradual independence. New climbers get a calm start. Experienced climbers get specific feedback and enough variety to stay curious.

  • Clear inductions for every access level
  • Routes designed for learning as well as challenge
  • Small-group coaching with practical takeaways
  • Respect for outdoor access, ethics and local communities

What guides us

Four values visible on every wall

01

Safety is active

Checks, communication and awareness are practiced, not assumed.

02

Progress is personal

Grades give context, but movement quality and confidence matter too.

03

Community is inclusive

People should be able to ask questions, find partners and feel welcome.

04

Outdoor places matter

Access, ethics and responsible decisions are part of climbing education.

Colourful climbing holds arranged on an indoor route

Route setting process

Every reset starts with an idea

Setters plan the purpose of a circuit before choosing holds. The team tests reach, movement options, grade consistency and safe falling zones before a route opens.

  1. Plan: define level, movement theme and wall use.
  2. Build: create more than one solution where the concept allows.
  3. Test: climb with different bodies, styles and experience levels.
  4. Review: collect member feedback and adjust when needed.

Safety standards

Simple systems, repeated well

  • Daily wall and landing-area checks
  • Documented equipment inspection cycles
  • Visible rules and zone-specific induction
  • Coach and setter incident reporting
  • Regular staff rescue and first-aid practice
