ABOUT THE ACADEMY
A modern academy built on clear standards and respectful practice.
We combine traditional discipline with practical coaching, safeguarding, transparent progression and room for recreational or performance goals.
OUR APPROACH
Students should understand what they are learning and why.
Classes use clear demonstrations, level-appropriate practice and short feedback cycles. No student is pushed into grading, sparring or competition before they are ready.
- Technique before intensity
- Consent and clear rules in partner work
- Progress without public comparison
- Age and experience appropriate coaching
- Optional grading and competition pathways

ACADEMY STANDARDS
Four standards guide every class.
Safety
Space, equipment, partners and contact levels are checked before training.
Clarity
Students know the task, rule and purpose before they begin.
Respect
Students care for partners, instructors and shared training space.
Progression
Difficulty increases only when technique and control are ready.
STUDENT JOURNEY
Progress can take different forms.
Some students train for confidence and fitness. Others choose grading, technical depth, demonstrations or competition.
Trial
Understand the class, instructor and environment.
Foundation
Build movement, etiquette and repeatable technique.
Development
Add partner work, forms and tactical decisions.
Specialise
Choose grading, leadership or performance pathways.

SAFEGUARDING AND BOUNDARIES
Good coaching includes clear limits.
Instructors explain touch, contact, partner roles and how to pause a drill. Children’s programmes use age-appropriate communication and visible safeguarding procedures.
THE TRAINING SPACE
A practical environment for learning.
Clear mat zones
Training areas are separated for movement, partner drills and equipment work.
Visible class rules
Students can see expectations for footwear, equipment, contact and behaviour.
Accessible communication
Students can ask for clarification, alternatives or a pause without embarrassment.
